Malmo Guitar Orchestra was formed in fall 2009. The orchestra has more than twenty members, consisting of guitarists and music students from Malmo and Skane in Sweden. Musical director is Borje Sandquist who teaches the guitar at the Malmö Academy of Music. He also has a long track record as a musician in different constellations, for example. Dream Orchestra and guitar duo of Four Hands, and has published a large amount of material with music for guitar.
The orchestra's repertoire includes both original compositions and arrangements of music in different styles. Apart from regular guitar playing, musicians on other instruments from the guitar family, which differ in size and mood broadens the sound of the orchestra. It also cooperates with other orchestra instruments to explore new sounds and possibilities of the guitar as an ensemble instrument.
